The original Indian chat room, still going
Before social networks, Indians met online in IRC rooms named simply #India. People still remember logging in from cyber cafés with a dial-up connection. India Chat on Cafe Chat carries that tradition on, with the same instant, text-first conversation but a modern window that works on phones.
The room has regulars who have chatted here for years and newcomers arriving every day. Regulars tend to be welcoming; say hi, mention where you are from, and you will find the conversation picks you up.
How India Chat works
Choose a nickname in the window above and press start. You join the public room straight away and can see everyone's messages as they arrive. Click any name to open a private chat with that person, or type /join #channel to visit another room on the network.
There is nothing to install. On Android or iPhone, the chat runs in your browser. For a bigger screen, tap Open full-screen chat under the window.
Good manners make better chat
India Chat is moderated by volunteers. Be friendly, do not flood the room with repeated messages, and take private conversations to private messages. People who harass others or post spam are removed. Those few rules keep the room pleasant for everyone, including you.
